Lizhi Liu

Lizhi Liu is an Assistant Professor at the McDonough School of Business and a faculty affiliate of the Department of Government at Georgetown University. Her research focuses on political economy and emerging markets. Her work has been published in leading journals and academic presses, including American Economic Review: Insights and Princeton University Press. Notably, her research on China’s e-commerce market has earned several prestigious awards and grants. These include the Silver Medal in the Axiom Business Book Awards (International Business/Globalization category), recognition as one of the China-Britain Business Council’s Best Books on China in 2024, funding from the Gates Foundation, and two Best Dissertation Awards respectively in political science and institutional economics. In 2021, she was recognized as one of Poets&Quants' Top 50 Undergraduate Business Professors. For the term 2025–2026, she has been selected as a member of the World Economic Forum's Global Future Council on Trade and Investment.
