Fengming Lu

Fengming Lu is a Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor) in the Department of Political and Social ChangeCoral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs at the Australian National University. His research interests include a wide array of topics in comparative politics and Chinese politics, particularly the political economy of China, elite politics, and political selection. As a close observer of the Chinese automotive industry for 30 years, Fengming is working on a research project about political economy of the electric vehicle (EV) industry in China, focusing on roles of industrial policies, local governments’ developmental goals, and the global capital market. His work has been published in peer-reviewed outlets such as Political Communication, Economics of Education Review, and Cambridge University Press. Fengming received his Ph.D. in Political Science at Duke University in 2018. Between 2018 and 2020, I was a postdoctoral fellow of the Peking-Princeton Postdoctoral Program (PPPP). Currently, Fengming also serves as an academic member and executive member of Australian Centre on China in the World (CIW) at the Australian National University.
